People often have different reason for subscribing to the Superfood fad of recent years. Many do it as a means of changing their lifestyles that go deeper than the physical. Others see it as an opportunity to become healthier than they currently are. Some simply like the taste and the variety of items that they can satisfy their pallets with.

Whatever the reason, Superfoods have certainly done a lot to gain an almost ritualistic view when it comes to accomplishing goals that people have setup for themselves. For this particular segment however, we will be dealing more with the Superfoods that can go a long way towards sculpting your body and providing you with muscles that will not make you look half bad when wearing just shorts.

Fortified Eggs

This smooth, round offspring of hens will never be absent from any list of any food that is classified as an excellent source of protein. Body builders have been consuming this muscle building produce since people have started trying to develop bodies like Adonis. Through recent developments however, fortified eggs have built up more on that and is now an excellent source of Omega-3 Fatty acids. This particular component does a lot for your heart and makes it stronger. As a result, your heart can take on more pressure and you can lift more weights.

Legumes

As an excellent source of soluble fiber, Legumes help in keeping an athlete’s blood sugar and energy levels stable. Not only that, as far as plants go, Legumes are relatively high in protein and are a good source of slow releasing complex carbohydrates. Putting all of these together will allow the body to produce a consistent amount of energy that lasts longer without giving out.

Allium Vegetables

This is not necessarily a major component in building bulging muscles, but things like garlic, chives, onions and such are a great way of adding more nutrients to a body builder’s diet that allows for a more balanced system.

Mollusks

Not only are mollusks rich in protein, they are also rich in iron, vitamin B12 and other minerals while also very low in fat. So as protein does a good job of making your muscles grow bigger, the other nutrients also improve blood flow, oxygenation and the dispersal of the minerals throughout the body’s various parts.

Nuts

Nuts are a very rich source of nutrients, including polyunsaturated fatty acids, proteins, fiber, vitamin E, potassium, foliate, magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, phosphorus, phytosterols, antioxidants, and arginine. Suffice it to say, nuts are excellent sources of the various nutritional components that our bodies need in order to function properly. These nutrients also allows for a better and more efficient method of building better muscles and a better form.

Whole grains

Like legumes, whole grain products provide a consistent amount of energy that allows for a longer duration in intense muscle training. So eating foods like oatmeal can keep you going for more time in the gym.

Salmon

Salmon is one of the best sources of Omega-3 fatty acids and is a great addition to your diet for protein. While it helps in building muscles, it also helps in recovering after particularly rigorous workout sessions.

Tomato

While again not geared more on building muscles, tomatoes do their part as background support. Lycopene is an antioxidant that is best appreciated when the tomato is heated. During the process, the full benefit of Lycopene can be brought out more than when eaten raw.

Cruciferous Vegies

Greens like broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and such are very high in fibre, rich in vitamin C while very low in calories. Body builders will find these sweepers to be very helpful when trying to lose the fat without losing the muscles.

If you are reading this, chances are you are someone who has at least some interest when it comes to becoming healthy or matters of health. If this is indeed the case with you, then congratulations for being interested in living a healthy life. You are now a part of a growing movement of awareness when it comes to health and fitness. Which is a great thing since it’s probably time to start reducing the waistline of the general population. As it has been growing steadily for the past two decades, nobody can dispute that.

To start with, how about we discuss some of the latest health trends hitting the public?

Did you know that eating tomatoes and broccoli together is more effective in fighting prostate cancer than eating either one alone? Seriously, a new study suggests that when eaten individually, either one has some cancer fighting properties on their own. However, when eaten together, the effects become greater by a large margin thereby increasing your chances of either avoiding or overcoming prostate cancer. And since this is a rather big concern for men, it might be time to set aside those cheerios and buffalo wings, and make some room for tomato and broccoli.

Now for the second health trivia of the week, we have the hindering effects of milk when added to tea. Yes, it might be a shocker, but studies have now shown that milk does not make a good partner for everything and it does not make everything so much better. Accordingly, tea is renowned to have very relaxing effects by relaxing blood vessels, therefore making it good for the heart. However, when milk is added, tea loses this ability and all you get is the flavor. Additionally, milk has a rather less than wonderful attitude towards the hailed antioxidants of tea, rendering it impotent in that particular area. So if you are the type to put milk on your earl gray, just remember that earl gray is not very happy about it.

Another health trivia is with regards to antidepressants, bones and old people. Their connection comes in as a new study indicates that most common antidepressants being prescribed for people over fifty years of age are more prone to bone fractures. The density of their bones become significantly lessened by the chemicals present in the drugs, making them easy to topple over and get injured since their bones are no longer capable of supporting their weights properly. This is why folks over fifty are generally recommended to have a hobby so they don’t have to pop a pill just to be happy.

Fourth on the list of interesting new trivia regarding health is about alcohol. The one you drink, not the one you disinfect things with. If you are a drinker and a health nut in one, you will have already known the many health benefits of a moderate amount of alcohol in our system. So to give you another excuse to down a bottle of beer every night, alcohol has also been proven to help with arthritis. So when your joints are feeling inflamed, a glass of wine might help according to researchers. Just don’t get carried away and drink the whole bottle, otherwise you would just be trading the benefit for another problem.

Finally, for anyone who has yet to reach menopause and do not wish to get breast cancer, eating plenty of fiber before you get there might be a good idea. New research suggests that a healthy amount of fiber in women’s diet will cut the risk of developing breast cancer by half before reaching menopausal age. Since breast cancer is to women, what prostate cancer is to men, whole wheat breads and oatmeal for breakfast everyday might not be such a bad idea.
